Donny and Marie now adorn the side of the Flamingo as the hotel's headliners, replacing Toni Braxton when she developed health problems.  Donny and Marie are scheduled to run until October 2012. 

The Flamingo started operations on December 26, 1946 as the "Pink Flamingo Hotel & Casino"; Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel named the resort after his girlfriend Virginia Hill, whom he nicknamed "Flamingo" because of her skinny legs.  The Flamingo at that time had only 105 rooms--today it has 3,626 rooms.  This is a picture from the Flamingo garden inside the resort.

A flamingo fountain in the garden area.  This area is one of the destinations of the Haunted Vegas Tour as they seek Bugsy Siegel's ghost.  The garden was built after the last original building was torn down on December 14, 1993.

A memorial plaque to Bugsy Siegel located near the wedding chapel in the garden.  After Siegel died, hotel management renamed the resort "The Fabulous Flamingo" on March 1, 1947.

The four Flamingo hotel towers were built and expanded in 1967, '75,'77, '82, '90 and '95.  The Hilton Corporation bought the Flamingo in 1972 and the name was changed to Flamingo Hilton; the Hilton name was removed in 1999 when the Flamingo ended its relationship with the Hilton Hotel chain.

Flamingo Las Vegas--though, the resort is actually in Paradise, NV.  

The Flamingo is on the left; Caesars Palace straight ahead; O'Shea's Casino to the right--all owned by Harrah's Entertainment.  Plans for this little section of street (an extension of Caesars Palace Dr) are rumored to have it closed-off and turned into a 1000-foot-long pedestrian mall with restaurants and nightclubs; included will be a 600' ferris wheel like the London Eye and Singapore Flyer--to be build near the monorail line at the rear of the buildings.  The plan is called "Project Link".
