The Landmark Hotel was imploded November 7, 1995.  The Landmark was a tower topped by a large saucer; 365 feet-tall with 31-stories and 525 rooms.  The implosion can be seen during the end-credits of the 2003 movie The Cooler and in Tim Burton's 1996 movie, Mars Attacks! when the Galaxy Hotel is destroyed by the Martians.

The hotel was torn down to make  a new parking lot for the Las Vegas Convention Center.  The Landmark opened on July 1, 1969.

The Regional Transportation Commission turned the old Landmark Hotel location on Paradise Rd (corner of Paradise and Convention Center Dr) into a bus stop--and incorporating as retro-art one of the old Landrmark signs (as shown here).
