The Las Vegas Hilton (on Paradise Rd a few blocks from the Strip) is the largest Hilton Hotel in the world with 3,174 rooms. The hotel was originally the International Hotel and was changed to the Hilton in 1971. At the time of this picture (New Year's Day, 2008), Barry Manilow was appearing at the Hilton. Hilton Hotels is reportedly terminating it's franchise agreement with the hotel by the end of 2011. The resort will be renamed Las Vegas Hotel.

The Las Vegas Hilton has a number of notable historical events: Elvis performed 58 consecutive sold-out concerts breaking all Vegas attendance records; in 1978 Leon Spinks defeated Muhammad Ali for the World Heavyweight title. When the International Hotel opened, it was the largest hotel in the world.

The Las Vegas Hilton was the home of the Star Trek Experience for ten years; it closed during the Fall of 2008. News articles state that the Star Trek Experience is moving to Neonopolis in downtown. In this picture, the Enterprise NCC 1701-A is seen suspended from the ceiling.
